Shop Cider Review & Try-On: Is Cider Legit?

We also believe that you don’t have to spend a fortune on new clothes to look great.
We’ve tried Shein, Zaful, Romwe, Chicwish, and the list goes on.
This time I decided to give the Tik Tok famous brand “Shop Cider” a try.
After reading other shop cider reviews I knew there was a good chance I wouldn’t be thrilled with what I received, but I decided to give it a go anyway.
With such affordable prices, I figured I had nothing to lose.
What is Shop Cider?
Shop Cider is a fast-fashion brand that is popular with the gen z crowd and is comparable to the brands listed above.
It’s known for its unique styles at incredibly cheap prices (like this cute orange sweater), however, the quality of the products is something questioned by many.
You may have even seen them pop up in Instagram ads if you browse popular social media platforms or you may have seen some of your favorite Instagram influencers sharing their pieces.
Cider went viral on Tik Tok a few years ago and has been going full-steam ahead ever since.
Read below for all the details on my first time ordering from the Cider shop, my thoughts on the items I received, my experience with their customer service, and much more.
Shop Cider Review
We’ll kick this off by going over the Cider clothing I ordered.
First up is this 2-piece floral skirt and crop top set.
Illusion Floral Tank Top & Skirt
This set was the first thing I saw that immediately caught my attention.
The colors are beautiful and the style is so on-trend.
This is the cutest top that can be worn with or without the skirt which was one of the reasons I was so drawn to it.
It’s perfect with the skirt but would also look great with a pair of white jeans.
Unfortunately, I could tell as soon as I took these pieces out of the bag that the fabric was thin and cheap.
However, the print and style were adorable so I was optimistic.
Not only were these pieces not high quality, but they were of terrible quality.
Before I even got to look in the mirror one of the drawstrings on the skirt ripped right off.
Total bummer. It was still wearable, but who wants a brand-new item that’s already broken?
Shockingly, Cider did offer to take care of this for me (which I hoped would happen but didn’t think they would actually do it).
The skirt ran a bit large. It works but would have been a better fit if I went down a size from what I normally wear.
For reference, I’m in a size small in both pieces and that is my normal size.
Illusion Ruched Midi Dress
There are tons of dresses just like this on Amazon (which happens to be my jam) but I wanted to see if there was anything special about the options from Cider.
This dress is beautiful but ran INSANELY large. While I love a good ruched dress, the fit of this one just wasn’t it.
The best part about ruching on a dress is that it is super flattering.
This was the total opposite.
The customer reviews on this dress were really good, but the size chart didn’t match up with what I received so this one was also a no for me.
You can see from this side view above just how much extra fabric there is in the midsection.
While I love some extra fabric around the midsection, this is just wayyyy too much.

Halter & Slit Midi Skirt Review
Next up was this polyester set (sold as separates) that has a 4.4 out of 5-star average rating.
It includes a cute top in a crinkly texture and a matching skirt.
Yet again, both of these pieces were very thin.
While this is a great outfit for hot weather and certainly a fun night on the town, it lacks in the coverage department.
As you can tell from the photo above the skirt is a bit sheer and the top will definitely require pasties as that too is super sheer.
For reference, that is our pool out the window in the left corner and you can see it through the top.
It’s not slightly sheer, it’s very sheer.
The style is absolutely adorable and I love that it’s sexy but the skirt is a midi length, which gives just a bit more coverage.
As far as the fit, I felt that the skirt ran a bit large while the top was true to size.
The good thing is that these come as separates so you can size down in the skirt without having to do so in the top but of course, you’ll have to wear something for coverage underneath.

Monochrome Set
I absolutely love the look of this set.
It’s a different style than anything else I have or have ever seen and the light blue color is beautiful.
This one is actually good quality (and much better quality than the other 3 items I received) and is something I would purchase again.
These items are both polyester but have an almost paper-mache-like feel. It’s different but in a good way!
The crop top has a really comfortable cut and you can wear a strapless bra underneath (or no bra at all).
It probably wouldn’t be great for a larger bust, but it does fit true to size. Both pieces are available up to size xl.
This pair of pants is on the thicker side so they aren’t see-through or sheer.
They also have a really cute chain detail on the back pocket. I ordered my usual size in these but unfortunately, they ran a bit large.
Quality
Overall, the quality was sub-par.
I had one outfit that was great quality while the rest left little to be desired.
However, this is an example of “you get what you pay for”.
At prices this cheap I would never expect super high quality garments.
Shipping Speed
Since Cider clothing is shipped from overseas it can be quite a while until you receive your items.
Don’t be surprised if don’t receive your items for several weeks after placing your order.
Customer Service
I actually had a pretty good experience with the customer service department.
I reached out to them in regard to an issue/question and I received a response almost immediately.
Sizing
The sizing was one of my biggest issues with the items I received. Almost everything was entirely too large.
The sizing definitely is not consistent from one item to the next, so it’s important to closely follow each items size chart.

How Long Does Shop Cider Take To Ship?
I placed my order on June 9th and received the package on June 24th so mine took just over 2 weeks.
Not the fastest, but certainly not the slowest either.
Is Cider legit?
Yes, Cider is legit.
You can feel confident knowing you will receive your order.
Is Shop Cider like Shein?
Yes. While you can find some trendy items that are of amazing quality, you shouldn’t expect that when shopping on either of these sites.
As far as the styles offered, they both offer of-the-moment pieces but Cider has a better and more sophisticated selection.
I wouldn’t recommend either online store for special occasion outfits but for basics like white t-shirts and trending items, it’s worth a shot.
Additionally, as far as which is the better-run company, Cider pays its employees 4-5x the minimum wage whereas Shein
doesn’t seem to provide this information to the public and often makes shoppers skeptical about their business practices.
Cider is able to keep its prices so incredibly low due to its pre-order model of inventory.
It’s uncertain how Shein is able to keep its prices so low which is why customers question whether the company is ethical or not.
Is Cider fast fashion?
Yes, Cider is still a fast fashion brand.
However, due to its preorder model of manufacturing, the brand is able to drastically cut back on waste.
Does shop cider run small?
Cider sizing seemed to run large for me which I found interesting since most other fast fashion sites tend to run small.
Who owns Shop Cider?
Cider is based in Hong Kong and was founded by Wang Chen.
Shop Cider returns
While the customer support at Cider is good, the one thing that I don’t love about Cider is its short return window.
You only have 14 days from the time of delivery to return your items.
Maybe this is long enough for some people but for me, it’s just not enough time.
I actually missed being able to return my entire order because I didn’t get to it in time. Ugh.
While Cider will provide you with a free return label for your first return of any order, you will have to pay for anything additional you end up wanting to send back after that initial return.
I mean, I can completely understand this.
An overall good experience to me isn’t just about the clothes, but about the shipping and return process as well, so this for me is a huge negative.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you place an order through store credit from a previous return, your new order is not eligible for a free return.
Where is Cider clothing based?
Cider Clothing is based in Guangzhou, China.
This is is why shipping to the United States often takes weeks.
Does Shop Cider have plus sizes?
Shop Cider clothing comes in sizes up to 4x in most styles.
Curve and plus-size has its own tab on the site and features all items broken down into categories.

While promotions change frequently, it’s common to see free shipping for any orders over $49.
BBB Cider Ratings
Cider is not accredited via the Better Business Bureau and actually has 1 star out of 5.
Conclusion
Overall, my personal experience was so-so.
I would recommend shopping from the site, but definitely suggest checking out the product reviews (specifically for sizing) before placing an order.
I didn’t spend much time doing that and could have saved myself the hassle of having to return/exchange items.
