If you follow me on Instagram you know we have a major dinosaur lover. Our daughter reads about, talks about and watches movies of dinosaurs allll day long. Naturally, she flipped when we told her we were going to Field Station Dinosaurs in Leonia, NJ.
Our Visit To Field Station Dinosaurs
Field Station Dinosaurs is an outdoor park with life size dinosaur exhibits. The park has 32 animatronic dinosaurs, some that make sounds and move.
The park isn’t too big so if you have little ones you’ll still be able to cover the whole thing in a short period of time. It is all walking though so strollers are a must if you have children that might get tired!
We visited the park on “Scout Day” which included a ton of extra activities and the kids had SO much fun! They got to participate in fun events, dig for fossils, play games and see cool lizards and bugs from The Lizard Guys. It definitely was a bonus and I highly recommend getting tickets to visit the park on their next Scout Day (October 12th).
Here’s a video of our kids participating in one of the interactive shows. They had such a good time and thought it was so funny!
You can bring your own lunch but we opted to get lunch there. The kids loved the dinosaur chicken nuggets and my husband said his cheeseburger was great. I brought my own food but they did have salads as well if you’re a healthy eater like me!
Even though our littles love dinosaurs they still wanted to spend a nice chunk of time playing in the sandbox! It’s a nice little break for the parents, too lol. It’s a bit shaded with a mesh canopy overtop and there are some benches for the parents to sit.
Additional exhibits and shows
Mesozoic Midway – Dinosaur themed games. Every player wins a prize.
Dinosaur Daycare – Prepare for the baby dinosaurs getting ready to hatch and help answer dino questions.
Gertie The Dinosaur – Meet Hollywood’s first dinosaur superstar.
T-Rex Feeding Frenzy – Explore the world of the T-Rex in this musical interactive show.
Coming up on July 6th Field Station has a Super Stars of Science event where kids can meet paleontology and geology experts. Each Saturday in July and August they’ll also feature a different superstar of science. You can find all the details here.
