This “Homeopathy: A Beginner’s Guide” post has been sponsored by Boiron and PTPA. As always, all thoughts and opinions I have expressed are my own.
Before I get into homeopathy itself, let me first explain why I became interested in homeopathy in the first place.
If you follow me on Instagram you know that our 9 month old has been struggling with eczema for months. It comes and goes, sometimes worse than others, but the mom guilt is ALWAYS there.
Initially, we tried a steroid thinking it would be one and done. Sadly, that wasn’t the case. However, I knew I wasn’t going to continue using it so I knew we needed to try some new alternatives to help clear/reduce the flare-ups.
Luckily, we were able get his eczema under control but of course, I’m always worried about it coming back. So when I got the opportunity to work with Boiron USA (the world leader in homeopathic medicines) to try some of their products, I knew it was the perfect fit. Although his eczema is currently under control, we’re slowly but surely heading into teething-season over here. A tough stage for babies and parents alike and one that quite frankly, I’d like to be as painless (for both him and I) as possible.
What Is Homeopathy?
First things first I am clearly not a Doctor. I’m just sharing the findings that I found to be most important. You should always speak with your Dr. first before taking or administering any medicine.
Homeopathy is a system comprised of medicines that work with the body to help restore balance and relieve symptoms. It’s used in many countries around the world and has been used for over 200 years. The ingredients used to make these medicines include minerals, plants, or animal sources that are extracted and then diluted.
The theory behind homeopathy is that “like cures like”. So for someone who is facing a disease/illness, the substance that is making that person sick, in a very small dose, might actually be able to heal them.
Homeopathic medicines are highly diluted substances that help to relieve symptoms with no long-lasting side effects. Because the substances are so diluted, they are considered to be non-toxic and safe to use.
There are various methods of delivery for homeopathic remedies but the most common are self-dissolving such as tablets, topicals such as creams and lotions and single-use liquid doses, such as the image below.
So What Can Homeopathic Remedies Be Used For?
The list of conditions that homeopathic remedies can alleviate is exceptionally long, but here are a few very common ones:
- common cold
- motion sickness
- teething pain
And the list goes on…
Who Is Boiron USA?
Boiron USA is a leading US homeopathic medicine manufacturer that was founded in France in 1932 by pharmacists Jean and Henri Boiron. They produce medicines in many different categories, including those such as allergy, indigestion, joint pain, stress, cold and flu and so much more. (You can view the full list on their website here). In addition to adult medicines, they also have a children’s line that includes products for colic, allergies, teething, etc. and lines specifically for women’s health and sleep/stress.
Boiron USA stands behind their products and offer a money-back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied with your purchase (within 30 days). To me this says a lot because they truly believe in and stand behind their products!
Something that I really love about the Boiron USA site is that even if you’re not well versed in homeopathic medicines and remedies, you can still find something that might work for your ailment with their medicine finder. It’s a great tool that allows you to choose your category, then your symptoms and based on your responses, provides you with products that might suit your needs.
Do you use homeopathic remedies? If so, what do you use them for and what results have you seen? I would love to hear!
