Simple & Gentle Newborn Bath Products

With baby no. 3 due to arrive in just 2 weeks we’ve been really chugging along with getting everything ready! The clothes are all washed, swings are in place and the car seat is good to go…. well, sort of. I brought it up out of the basement and washed the fabric so we’re almost there.

G is really loving helping get the clothes, bath products and nursery ready. She’s been such a big helper it’s like she’s a little mom. I’m so anxious to see how she will be when baby ACTUALLY gets here.

Since we haven’t had a newborn in a few years it’s easy to forget about some of those things you only use for such a brief period of time (like the infant bathtub!) But one thing we still use even with our older 2 are simple yet safe bath products.

I can honestly say that I’m pretty picky when it comes to not only newborn bath products but products for our older two as well. We always take care when reading about the ingredients we put IN our bodies and I also do the same for what we put ON our bodies.

What To Look for in Newborn Bath Products

When choosing products for the kids (and myself!) I always look for a few things:

  • minimal ingredients
  • free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates and dyes
  • made from naturally derived ingredients
  • gentle for sensitive skin

Our oldest gets HORRIBLY dry skin in the winter and we’ve found that sticking to products with these traits helps to keep it under control.

When picking up a few things at Walgreen’s the other day I noticed JOHNSON’S® reformulated “Cotton Touch” line of newborn bath products. I read that the line is made of over 90% naturally derived ingredients and is specifically designed for newborn skin. Plus, you can add a pump to the bottle which is an absolute MUST for me (why do I always seem to be one hand short with the kids?!) so I picked up the Cotton Touch 2 in 1 Wash and Cotton Touch Lotion for our babe on the way. My big helper was so excited to organize it in their bathroom as you can see from the pics above LOL.

J&J has been around for over 100 years but their baby products have continued to change and evolve just like every mom and baby’s needs do. Johnson’s products still maintain the safest ingredients while also staying true to the brand people have come to trust.

Now that my due date is getting closer some of the newborn memories are starting to flood my brain all over again. I remember my husband running out to the store at all hours of the day and night because we realized we were out of something. Luckily we have a 24-hour Walgreens and I swear, they knew him by name. The accessibility and convenience couldn’t be better for a mom with out of wack hormones and a baby that’s keeping her up all night 🙂 Mamas-t0-be: if you have a 24-Hour Walgreens I swear it will become your new BFF once that baby arrives. They’re always there for you in times of need!
