128 Flattering Swimsuits To Hide Tummy Bulge 2023
Summer will be here before we know it which means lots of beach and pool days. If you’re looking for the best swimsuits to hide tummy bulge, this post is for you!
We’ve created this post to help you find something that’s affordable AND you feel comfortable and confident in.
After having children, many women feel differently about their bodies than before. I think all women should embrace their bodies, however, how you FEEL is important, too!
Maybe you’re a new mom who just isn’t comfortable with her post-baby body yet and you want to hide what many call a “mom pooch”. Or, maybe you had a c-section and you’re looking for swimsuits for a “c-section pooch”.
Whatever the reason may be, some women just don’t feel comfortable in skimpy and/or low rise 2 pieces, especially post-pregnancy.
The slimming bathing suits throughout this post are great options for anyone who just isn’t comfortable with their tummy showing.
So, without further ado, let’s get into the 128 best swimsuits to hide tummy bulge.
Best Swimsuits To Hide Tummy Bulge – High Waist Bikinis
I’m going to start with my personal favorite style of swimsuit which is the high-waisted style. Not only are high-waisted suits great for concealing a tummy, but they also tend to be more secure.
If you have young kids, it is much harder for them to pull down (or off!) a high-waisted swimsuit bottom.
High-waisted swimsuits are actually the ONLY style I wear. If you want to see actual photos and reviews of me wearing high-waisted swimsuits from the best-selling swimsuit brand on Amazon, you can do that here.
Here are a few high-waisted swimsuits to hide belly pooch that have incredible reviews and come in several color/print options.
Smocked Ruffle Bikini | Wrap Bikini | Cutout Bikini
One thing to always look for when trying to hide tummy bulge is ruching. Ruching is flattering on all body types but is especially good for hiding a belly pooch.
It also helps to make the waist appear slimmer, especially if the ruching is diagonal.
Black Suit | Pink Printed Suit | Pineapple Print
Prints are great at camouflaging a belly pooch. The tighter the print, the more it helps to make your tummy less noticeable.
Pairing a printed bottom with a ruffle top helps to draw attention to another part of the body.
The old way of thinking was that black was the best way to conceal just about anything. When it comes to swimwear, I have to disagree. Prints are way better at concealing problem areas than solid black.
These suits are available in sizes ranging from small to 3XL, have an average 4.5-5 star reviews, and ship Amazon prime with free return shipping.
The great thing about Amazon Prime is that you can order a SLEW of bathing suits to try on and not have to worry about wasting money on shipping or return shipping. Plus, they usually get to your door in like 2 days. win-win.
Black Bikini | Boho Retro Bikini | Off Shoulder Bikini
Reviewers commented that these suits are comfortable, flattering, fit perfect, and are well made.
See how each of these suits has an attention-grabbing top? This helps to distract from a tummy bulge or loose skin.
Side cinching is also extremely flattering and helpful when trying to hide make a tummy less obvious. A suit that has both side-cinching AND ruching is a great option.
Many of the swimsuits above are from Amazon. If you don’t see a color/print that you love, but you love the style/cut, be sure to head over to see what other options are available.
Most times Amazon items come in a TON of colors/prints.
Scoop Neck Tankini | Bandeau Bikini | Rainbow Tie Dye Bikini
Bandeau Bikini | Striped High Waisted Bikini | Retro Halter Bikini
Scallop Bikini | Buckle Front Bikini | Rainbow Bikini
A tie-front, scallop detail, or a buckle on your top are all great details that will help take the attention away from a belly pooch.
Retro Halter Ruched Bikini | Pushup Halter Bikini | Padded Pushup Bikini
The great thing about these 3 suits is that they aside from being incredibly flattering, all are available in multiple colors and/or prints.
Shirred Cut Bikini | Ditsy Floral High Waisted Bikini | High Cut Bikini
Look for eye-catching prints, ring details, keyhole cut-outs, and wrap designs. All of these minor details help take attention away from your stomach area.
Ribbed High Waisted Bikini | Blue Floral Knot Bikini | Black Scallop Bikini
Although prints help to conceal a tummy bulge, not all prints have the same slimming effect. The tighter the print, the more impact it will have. Look for styles with little empty space between the print.
Additionally, lower contrast colors also help to give a slimming effect. When possible, try to choose a suit that has lower contrast to help hide a belly pooch.
Best Swimsuits To Hide Tummy Bulge – One-Pieces
If you’re looking for swimsuits to hide a belly pooch, a tummy-slimming one-piece is a great option. Many one-piece suits have ribbing which helps to hide a belly pooch by elongating the midsection.
A one-piece with vertical stripes, ruffles, ruching, mesh panels, and/or properly positioned seams is also another great way to draw the eyes away from your tummy.
Ruched V Neck One Piece | Striped One Shoulder | Ruched Tie Shoulder
Ruched Tie Shoulder | Ruched One Shoulder One Piece | Ruched Sweetheart One Piece
Ruched V Neck | Ruched Bandeau One Piece | Ruched Square Neck One Piece
Perfect Wrap One-Piece | The Ruched Backflip | The Ruffle Backflip
Bon Voyage One-Piece Swimsuit | The Victoria Off Shoulder Swimsuit | The Aubry One-Piece Swimsuit
When looking for the best swimsuit to hide tummy bulge a deep-v-neck or plunge style suit is a great option as they give the illusion of a longer chest.
Add in some lattice detailing or ruffles and you’re sure to cover up any signs of a belly pooch.
But, not all plunge bathing suits are created equal. If you have a long torso, be conscious that a one-piece suit may not fit you the way you expect.
If you read reviews that a one-piece bathing suit fits true to size, but you have a long torso, consider sizing up at least one size. (I have a long torso and 99% of the time size up in bodysuits and one-piece bathing suits).

Another thing to take into account with a plunging one-piece bathing suit is whether or not you feel comfortable with your chest being pretty exposed.
Many moms don’t feel that their boobs like quite the same after pregnancy/nursing. If this is the case for you, try a plunging suit that is a bit more modest.

Best Swimsuits To Hide Tummy Bulge – Tankini
Tankinis are last on the list of the best swimsuits to hide a belly pooch. Tankinis CAN be great, but only with the proper fit.
A tankini with zero shape, ruching, or print can actually make you look bigger than you really are. Here are some tankinis that make the list with flattering ruching, beautiful prints, and plunging necklines.
Black One Shoulder Tankini | High Neck Tankini | Sporty Double Layered Tankini
Deep Plunge Tankini | Floral Halter Tankini | Ruffled Tankini
Should you buy a swimsuit a size bigger to hide a tummy bulge?
I do NOT recommend buying a bathing suit in a bigger size to huge a tummy bulge. Instead, I recommend following the simple tips below to choose a tummy-slimming bathing suit to flatter your body, in the right size.
How to hide your tummy in a swimsuit?
Here are our top 4 tips:
1.) Always look for Ruching.
2.) Stick to lower contrast prints
3.) Tighter prints/patterns are more flattering
4.) Opt for attention-drawing details up top (cutouts, ties, bows, ruffles, plunging necklines, etc.)
The only instance in which we recommend sizing up is if you have a long torso, whether you’re trying to conceal a bulging belly or not.
So, what is the best slimming swimsuit to hide a tummy? When it comes to bikinis, a tiered ruffle top with ruched bottoms is hard to beat. For one-pieces, a suit with diagonal ruching is your best bet.
Hopefully one of these tummy-slimming swimsuits catches your eye!

The black “illusionist” as well as the red tie-lace onepieces are the two, I’d think, would work for me. Never would have the nerve to get into a bikini again(!). The point about the ruching being like belly camo, though, is that: (IMO) the floral patterns with it ALWAYS look old and matronly. When it’s a solid color, it’s better and does not look like you’re going to feel like a grandma next year at the shore(!). Something I cannot stand about a lot of swimsuits today is, that, even with an “age-appropriate” modest onepiece (you feel confident about how you think it looks attractive on you): SO MANY DESIGNERS WILL SKIMP ON FULL WIDTH SHOULDER STRAPS OR HAVE ALL THESE ANNOYING STRINGY THINGS HANGING OFF ALL ANGLES OF THE SUIT. AARRGHHH! I hate that! The shoulder strap thing, however (and I’m a 36D in the chest), is the worst. It’s like: you’ll find a suit 95% you’re in love with….BUT: the shoulder straps will get narrower in the back and constantly twist around your shoulder blades if you suffer from having to deal with stubborn BACK FAT (again, lol!: aarrghhh!). Thank you (from a fellow Jersey Girl by the way!)
Hey Cristina! Thanks for stopping by! I hear you. Finding a great suit can be so hard!
