I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is 1 week away! This year is really flying by just like every other. I have to admit I’m pretty happy that the winter is almost (sorta?) over. While I love the holidays and a good snow day I’d take a warm tank-top, flip-flop, beach day over a cold one any day!
As the years have gone by Mike and I have celebrated Valentines Day in many different ways. When we were first dating it was a fancy dinner out and maybe a movie. When we bought a house and had been together for several years it was still usually a fancy dinner – but it wasn’t as big of a deal to us anymore. Now that we have kids it’s just like another day LOL. If we get to go out its great but if not we don’t sweat it.
Mike is actually working late this Valentines Day so we won’t get to do anything on the actual day. Honestly, I’m not all that bummed because I’m in prep for my next fitness show so I can’t eat out anyway. BUT – I do hope we get to schedule some time where we can have our babysitter come so we can get out for a little.
Even though we won’t be doing much on Valentine’s Day I still love the idea of the day and do enjoy celebrating it! It’s no secret that I love to get dressed (even though I don’t get to do it often) so I’ve rounded up some great pieces in case you are lucky enough to get out and celebrate with your loved one!
Since we won’t be getting out here are some fun ideas you might want to try if you’re in the same boat!
FUN VALENTINES DATE NIGHT IDEAS
- Cook dinner together! Make it a fun night. Hit the store and grab something you don’t usually buy on a regular night. Have your favorite music ready and maybe laugh over burning something in the kitchen (my husband is definitely good for this one). Sometimes a nice quiet dinner and a movie ends up being the best night.
- Take a mini road-trip. Visit somewhere you’ve been dying to go but just never made time for. We love to visit places that have been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! We usually make a point to do it when we visit other cities but never think to do it when we’re home! Visiting places like this is always so much fun. One of our all time favorites is Rino’s Place in Boston where the ravioli are made to order. So delish!
- Head out for a fancy dinner. Make a reservation, get dressed up and enjoy being waited on! I LOVE going out to eat and staying out for a drink or 2 after we’re done. We have some really great restaurants near us. One that is our go-to is Cubacan. It’s a restaurant/lounge on the beach that offers small plates as well as entrees. They also have a ton of great cocktails! We love small plates so we can share and get a bunch of different things. As the night goes on a band comes on and it’s more lively but the atmosphere can definitely still be romantic.
Here are some of my favorite shoes that would also be perfect for a special Valentine’s Day! These red ones are from Express and you can shop them by clicking the link. They only come in whole sizes and I am a true 7.5 but I was able to get the 8’s because of the closed toe and they fit perfectly!
These pink Dolce Vita heels are from awhile ago but I did see a pair on Tradesy super cheap! They are so comfortable because of the platform and the straps to hold your feet in.
